This week at the leading NHS industry event, Digital Health ReWired, Isosec have announced their Self Service enhancement to their Virtual Smartcard service, the only cloud based smart card solution available to the NHS.

The Self Service element will not only make login easier for all NHS staff who use Virtual Smartcard, it will save significant time for Registration Authority departments and staff who are relied upon to issue smart cards.

Immediate benefits for Virtual Smartcard Trusts

Over 30 Trusts in England are already benefiting from Isosec’s virtual solution which was launched in 2018. This latest development means staff no longer have to physically visit their RA department to register their Virtual Smartcard, and identity checks can be done in advance by HR departments, for example. Users are also then able to register their own devices rather than rely on IT teams to configure anything for them.

Marc Poulaud, CTO and Co-founder of Isosec, comments “we’re constantly working to improve our range of identity and access management solutions to the NHS. Self service technology is an area we’re focussed on at Isosec to improve the NHS login experience for clinicians and NHS staff – they can get access even faster to the information they need to get to work quicker. It’s also great for RA departments who are overwhelmed at times with an influx of new junior doctors, for example – with self serve Virtual Smartcard, gone are long queues and wasted time for clinicians waiting to be registered.”

NHS Login is core focus for Isosec

The focus on NHS login is ever more prevalent, with recent announcements from the NHS including the £40 million investment into NHS single login, and the release of NHSX’s Tech Plan which confirms their first mission is to reduce the burden on the NHS workforce by improving login.

Michael Latimer, CEO of Isosec, comments “It’s great to see such a focus on making lives easy for the NHS workforce with faster, easier login – Isosec’s core aim has been precisely this for over 15 years and we’ve worked tirelessly with the market to achieve this. Our latest development to help users self serve their Virtual Smartcard is another great milestone for us and for our NHS customers. And it’s great to have opportunities like ReWired to open up these conversations face to face with our customers and the wider NHS ecosystem.”
