Announcing ePrescription Functionality for Virtual Smartcard

Isosec extends Virtual Smartcard functionality with ePrescription Service and Push Notification Authentication

Today, as the market leading provider of security, authentication and workflow solutions to the NHS and Healthcare sectors we are thrilled to announce the launch and availability of ePrescription integration as well as push notifications for Virtual Smartcard. This is the latest in a series of innovations by Isosec following the launch of Virtual Smartcard in January 2018 to universal acclaim.

The Isosec ePrescription module allows health professionals to securely access authentication to the NHS Spine, required as part of the latest ePrescribing guidelines. The Isosec ePrescription functionality is specifically designed to work with the Isosec Virtual Smartcard, allowing for a streamlined yet totally secure solution for NHS authentication for a wide range of health professionals, including GPs and Pharmacists. Plus, Virtual Smartcard is is EPR agnostic.

Additionally, to encourage easy to use two-factor authentication, Isosec has launched a push notification service for Virtual Smartcard usable on any mobile or tablet device to satisfy compliance guidelines. This easy to use service is also able to trigger offline one time passcode (OTP) should a user require, for rapid authentication with an additional layer of security.

“Following the launch of our Virtual Smartcard in January 2018, we have been extremely pleased with the surge in market interest and new customer orders,” comments Michael Latimer, CEO at Isosec. “We have seen strong demand across our customer community with a number of live users already and more coming online every month. The addition of the ePrescription and push notification functionality add yet more innovation that will make our customers’ daily lives much easier and enable fast authentication to any device using our Virtual Smartcard. We are proud to be continuing to innovate and help our customers spend less time on authentication and administration tasks and more time dedicated to patient care” he adds.

Virtual Smartcard use cases are expanding with every Trust Isosec work with. One recently added use-case is Virtual Smartcard functionality to work with RPA (Robotic Process Automation) workflows. Where Trusts are using robots to do administration functions like eReferrals, the robots need to be virtually authenticated with a strong audit trail. Isosec are currently working with a number of technology partners and trusts assisting with rolling this out and helping to drive this exciting new technology forward.
